CAROZ’s eye opener:

The global ocean freight market is going through a period of change and uncertainty. While rates continue to fall, carriers are holding off on blank sailings—at least for now. With new alliance structures like Gemini still being rolled out, there’s limited flexibility to reduce capacity without adding more disruption. But once these networks are fully in place, capacity control is expected to return.

At the same time, early performance figures from Gemini show that even simplified networks face reliability challenges. Add to that the impact of U.S. tariff plans, growing Rotterdam congestion, and ongoing Red Sea risks, and it’s clear the pressure on global logistics isn’t easing.

For now, the industry is caught between structural changes and geopolitical tensions; slowing response, but not reducing complexity.
