Ahead of many other leading global operating companies Samsung started to insource its supply chain activities already in 2008. Samsung realized at an early stage that successful supply chain management is about much more than only reaching high levels of cost efficiency. Facing challenges like decentralized and outsourced management of most of their European DC’s (at that moment operated by different 3PL’s and 4PL’s), lack of visibility (let alone control over their flows), and failing to reap the benefits of opportunities for consolidation, management decided it was time for a change!
Samsung’s decision to implement the CAROZ THE TMS solution turned out to be a true gamechanger in their supply chain operations. Consolidation opportunities has led average shipment size to increase by 40%, the use of the truck and container creation module has led to a 56% increase of loading factor, and trough the elimination of duplicate jobs, greater visibility and availability of actionable insights, a reduction of 59% on the number of FTE’s has been realized!
After the first successful implementations the CAROZ THE TMS suite has been implemented within 14 business units of Samsung so far. Ultimately leading to better controlling cost levels, loading factor and providing full visibility of all distribution processes.
Next to the direct impact on logistics, CAROZ THE TMS multilingual solutions has facilitated communication, increased customer service, and led to higher customer satisfaction. In addition, more efficient use of capacity has led to substantial impacts on the Greenhouse gas emission and plays an important role towards a contribution to a more sustainable world.
Jean-Pierre Jouvin, Logistics Operations Manager, Samsung Electronics: “CAROZ provides a tailor made IT solution, combined with in depth process knowledge to build the best fit solution per operation together. As development will be in house the maintenance and/or upgrade of the solution can be done easily at a competitive rate.”
Maurits Jongens, Managing Director CAROZ THE TMS: “We are very pleased to facilitate a company like Samsung to increase customer satisfaction while optimizing processes across the supply chain. Usage of less trucks & decrease of CO2 emission is a very nice bonus, which ultimately makes a significant contribution to achieving Samsung’s sustainability goals”
